Art Preparation

Please be sure your art for your buttons is sized and formatted correctly before sending it to us.  The button templates that we provide make the process much easier!

First off, download a button template below:

1 inch custom button templates

Photoshop (recommended):

Download

JPEG (acceptable but harder to work with):

Download right click, “save as”

Next, open up the template, and lay out your image according to the instructions.

For reference, to the right is the template itself, and below it a scanned in image of the template on an actual button.Tips and guidelines for laying out your button design:

  • Cover the space entirely!  If you don’t cover up the template markings on the visible parts of the button, they will show up on the print!  So make sure that everything on the side and inside the face line (and the face line itself) is covered by your design.
  • For best results, the main part of your design should extend to the FACE LINE, and the background should extend to the bleed area.  If you leave the SIDE blank, the sides of your buttons will be white.
  • BE AWARE OF SMALL LINES AND CONTRAST.  Lets face it, 1 inch buttons are pretty small.  Small details can get lost, and images with poor contrast often don’t look that great on a tiny button.  The best advice we can give if you are unsure is for you to do a test print after you get everything laid out.
  • Our templates are formatted at the exact size and resolution that they need to be for us to print your custom buttons.  If your image is too big, scaling it down to fit the template is fine.  If your image is too small, trying to stretch it to fit is not ideal.  When stretched, images pixelate (start to look grainy) pretty quick, so avoid doing this!
  • We are here to help, so if you have questions you can email us.

When you are done, SAVE your image.  Please use something descriptive, like “‘band name’_button_1″, not simply “untitled”.

We prefer .psd, .pdf, .png, or high quality .jpeg or .gif files.

Files should be saved at the same size and resolution (300dpi) as the template.
