diy specials
The DIY Specials are our way to offer buttons, magnets and pocket mirrors at really cheap prices in exchange for you (the customer) doing a lot of the work yourself.
Basically, the way it works is you download the appropriate size template and design your items. (But you don't actually have to do it on the computer. More about that later.) Print and cut out the circles yourself. And then you send them to Button Storm at the address you'll get when you place your order.
Once Button Storm receives your circles we will notify you to let you know that they have been received and when the finished items will be sent. Normally our turnaround time is one or two business days.
Why should you bother with doing it yourself? There are lots of good reasons!
1. The price is right.
The most popular package—100 1-inch buttons—is only $10. You can't beat that! Prices for other quantities and products can be found on the price list.
2. You can have more variety.
Because you are printing and cutting out your own circles, it is no more work for us if you have a lot of different designs. In fact you can make every single item in your order a unique work of art.
3. You can be more creative.
One of the most attractive features of the DIY Specials is that you are not restricted to doing your designs on a computer. As long as your circles are the right size and the paper is not too thick (read the faq for more about this) you can do just about anything.
You could draw each design by hand, or have your kids do them in crayon. You could cut the circles out or origami, scrapbooking or wrapping paper. You could cut shapes out of one paper and layer it on top of another (as long as it's not too thick). All of these things and more have been tried by our customers.
There are a few downsides, of course, which should be mentioned.
1. It takes more time and effort.
Don't forget that someone has to cut out all those circles. (Our advice: do it in front of the TV. You'll have them done before you know it.)
2. It takes longer.
You will need to send your circles in the mail, which means it will take longer to get your finished circles back. If you're in a big hurry, you might be better off getting some full-service buttons.
3. Centering is more difficult.
If you are cutting your circles out with scissors, your circles may not be perfectly round, which could cause your design to be slightly off center. If your design needs to be perfectly centered I recommend buying a circle punch or ordering the full-service buttons instead.
