GENERAL QUESTIONS
Q: What is the turnaround time for orders?
A: Generally your buttons, magnets and/or pocket mirrors will be made and sent within two business days of the order being received. (In the case of the DIY Specials, that means within two days of the paper circles being received in the mail.) Larger orders may require a bit more time and you will be notified if that is the case.
Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: Payment is handled through PayPal. You can pay with any major credit card or directly from your PayPal account.
You can also pay with a money order or cashiers check, but you will have to place your order by email rather than the usual way. Send us a message and we'll set that up for you.
Q: Can I get a quantity other than what is on the price list?
A: Of course! Send me a message and I'll quote you a price.
QUESTIONS ABOUT
FULL-SERVICE ORDERS
Q: What do you need from me?
A: We need camera-ready art. That means your design, exactly as it is to appear on your buttons, and we need it in a digital format that can be uploaded to this site when you place your order. The exact size you need depends on what you are ordering. Exact sizes are on the templates.
Q: What formats do you accept?
A: You can submit your design in pdf, jpg, png or tif format. You can also submit your design on paper, there will be an additional charge for scanning. See the price list for details.
Q: What resolution do I need?
A: At least 300 dpi is ideal, and at least 200 is usually ok. Anything less than that is taking a risk that your image will look bad. The best thing you can do is print your image out yourself and see how it looks. Your images will likely look about the same when you print them as they will when we do. (We don't have a magic wand that can turn crappy pictures into gold.) If you are having trouble figuring out what your resolution is, feel free to ask for help.
Q:How do I submit my designs?
A: When you place your order you will be prompted to upload your designs to Button Storm. If you are submitting your design on paper, you will need to pay a fee for scanning (See the price list for details) and you will be given an address to send your art.
Q: I know what I want my buttons to look like. Can you design them for me?
A: Sure. There is an additional fee, depending on what you need done. See the price list for details.
Q: I'm having technical difficulties. Can I get some help, please?
A: Of course! Just send a message and we'll do my best to help you out.
QUESTIONS ABOUT THE DIY SPECIALS
Q: What do you need from me?
A: We need the actual paper circles that will be used to make your buttons, magnets or pocket mirrors. They need to be the exact size indicated on the appropriate template (although you don't have to actually use the template if you don't want to). Each circle needs to be cut out and then the whole batch needs to be sent to Button Storm. (You will be given the address when you place your order.) If any of this doesn't make any sense, read the DIY Specials page, and if it still doesn't make sense, then ask for help.
Q: What kind of paper is best to use?
A: Regular office paper works best. Lighter paper is generally fine, but heavier paper can be a problem. If there's a specific kind of paper that you want to use, send us a message. We might ask you to send one circle so we can try it out before we proceed.
PLEASE NOTE: Photo paper does not work with my button machine. Your buttons will get cracked along the edge and it will make you (and us) very sad.
Q: Can I use fabric (or some other non-paper material) for my designs?
A: Yes, but it's more difficult and takes a lot more time. So the price is double. Also, certain fabrics work better than others. We may ask you to send me a sample swatch sowe can check to see if it will work or not. Contact us if you are interested and we'll give you more information.
Q: I cut my circles out and they are not perfectly round. Is this a problem?
A: Nope. You won't be able to tell once your buttons, magnets or mirrors are made because the edge will get wrapped around and won't be visible. But keep in mind that the image may not be centered perfectly. If centering is important to you then you might want to invest in a circle punch or get a full-service order instead.
Q: I'm having technical difficulties. Can I get some help, please?
A: Of course! Just send a message and we'll do our best to help you out.
I'm ready to order!
